Two underpaid creatives working at a trendy Austin restaurant decide the obvious solution to their problems is… robbery. Funny, romantic, and just a little bit messy, Bat City is a charming new comedy about burnout, bad decisions, and trying to figure out whether following your dreams is worth the credit card debt. Spoiler: probably not.
WHY SEE THIS SHOW: A world premiere is always exciting, and this is a play that captures you immediately with its charm, heart, and sly subversive humor. It has a few surprises, enough of an edge to feel contemporary, and overall is delightful. There is some weight to the conversations about feeling either uninspired or having gotten what you dreamed of and it not being what you actually wanted. A beautifully charming romantic comedy.
