Tradition: Redefined //

Not Your Average Regional Theatre

Greenville may not compete in prestige or tourism dollars with the performing arts meccas like London, New York, and Chicago, but our small southern city has something the big guys simply don’t: the opportunity to authentically connect with our audience.

In fact, we consider it more of a responsibility than an opportunity. We at The Warehouse Theatre recognize that Greenvillians have quite a few local theatres to choose from. As our city’s performing arts scene continues to grow, we do our best to curate a truly one-of-a-kind experience for our patrons that is anything but quaint.

The Warehouse Theatre //

A Place for

The Warehouse Experience is so much more than “just” theatre. At the end of the day, when you strip our productions of their costumes, their music, their set design, and even their actors, only one thing remains: stories.

The play’s stories. The audience’s stories. The actors’ stories. In order for theatre to really do its job—to spark conversation, to inspire people to think outside the box—all of these different stories must come together seamlessly.

We do our best to select productions with stories that challenge the status quo, aren’t otherwise being told, and are relevant to Greenville. And we continue telling these stories offstage, too. Through our pre-performance forums that encourage dialogue about one of the play’s main themes, the local art featured in our lobby before each show, and even the local beer we serve at our bar, we’re helping write our community’s story.

So we’ll say it once more: The Warehouse Experience is so much more than “just” theatre.

It’s conversation. It’s community. It’s intense and unexpected. It’s a cultural smorgasbord; a mosaic of stories with different backgrounds, settings, characters, and endings. But somehow they all fit together, perfectly imperfect.
