When asked to choose a play to direct at Warehouse Theatre, Mark Waldrop had an immediate suggestion:
Christopher Durang’s “Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike.”
“That was the title that popped to the top of my list,” said Waldrop, a New York-based director and writer.
“It’s a very, very funny play, almost farcical.”
Waldrop’s staging of “Vanya and Sonia” opens Friday, March 18 for 13 performances through April 3.
The play is about three outlandish, middle-aged siblings. Vanya and Sonia are bickering sad-sacks who have rarely left their home in Bucks County, Pa. They’re supported by their movie star sister, Masha.
