Educational Touring Auditions: The Tempest Monday, June 18th: 6-8p Auditions for the upcoming Warehouse Touring Production of The Tempest will be Monday, June 18 from 6-8pm. You can reserve your 5 minute audition slot by emailing Mallory Pellegrino at [email protected] Please prepare two contrasting Shakespearean monologues (no more than 3 minutes total combined time). While contrasting monologues are typically only comic vs dramatic, we ask to see a monologue that is your typical “type” and a second piece that is a stretch for you in either age, race, gender, etc. Have fun with it. There are no limits on what you can pick! It should be that piece that you’ve always wanted to do for an audition, but never had a realistic opportunity. Callbacks will be the following evening, Tuesday June 19. It is particularly important that you attend callbacks, as the production is actor-driven and a connected, vibrant ensemble is essential. Each year, The Warehouse Touring Company mounts a 75-minute cutting of a Shakespeare play that is specifically geared towards a middle and high school audience, performing throughout SC and NC. There are generally 6 actors involved in the production, so roles are typically double-cast. Actors are paid weekly and no local housing for rehearsal time is currently being offered. All actors will be housed when “on tour.” Rehearsal begins in September and the show tours for the month of October. A detailed production calendar will be available to review at auditions, but there is typically only one day off per week for rehearsal periods. While on tour, actors are asked to lead workshops for students, so teaching artist experience is a plus!
