Professional Development: For Artists, Educators, and Corporations

A new year, a new adventure!

After speaking with local artists about their interests and needs for professional development, we are excited to offer The Actor’s Gym once a month February through May.  Each session will have a theme, and participants are asked to bring something to work on or share with the group.  To promote collaboration and education among artists, these workshops will be open practice facilitated by the Director of Education, Mallory Pellegrino.  Artists are encouraged to bring prepared activities for the group (dependent on theme).

Our aim is to promote shared learning experiences among our artistic community.  We hope that The Actor’s Gym will provide artists with a place to explore new techniques, develop skills, take risks, and make connections with fellow artists.

February 25: The theme is “Monologues.” Bring a monologue or two that you’re working on and receive feedback before upcoming audition season!  Monologues should be no longer than 90 seconds.

March 18:  The theme is “Scene Study.”  Scenes from scripts will be selected for the group to practice cold reading skills.

April 15:  The theme is “Movement.”  Join us for a brief dive into Viewpoints!  Artists should bring movement based activities they would like to share with the group.

May 20:  This theme is currently “Grab Bag,” meaning we will choose a theme that interests those artists who have been attending The Actor’s Gym.

Each gym costs $5, and pre-registration is highly encouraged.  Classes will be held 6p to 7:30p on the above dates.
