More than 100 years separate the two plays yet they’re best enjoyed as a pair.

Anton Chekhov wrote his dark comedy “Uncle Vanya” in 1899. Broadway funnyman Christopher Durang in 2012 borrowed some names and themes from that classic to create his Tony Award-winning “Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike.”

The Warehouse Theatre is staging both plays.

“Uncle Vanya” opens Jan. 29. “Vanya and Sonia” follows on March 18.

“It just seemed like a fun, novel idea to do them both,” said Paul Savas, executive and artistic director of the Warehouse Theatre.
